What Is Pencils of Promise?
A nonprofit that builds schools and education programs where children need them most.
Pencils of Promise is a nonprofit that partners with communities in Ghana, Guatemala, and Laos to build safe, engaging schools — not just structures, but environments where children can genuinely learn.
They combine school construction with teacher coaching programs and clean water delivery, creating lasting change that compounds across generations. They don't parachute in and disappear. They work alongside communities the same way great networking works: by showing up consistently, understanding what people actually need, and creating value that outlasts any single transaction.
Education is the ultimate compounding flywheel. One additional year of schooling increases lifetime earnings by 10%. Girls who go to school are more likely to make their own life choices. Entire families are lifted out of poverty when a child learns to read.
